Château de Villeneuve

The Château de Villeneuve is situated on the plateau overlooking the Loire, offering a breathtaking view of the wild river. A magnificent 18th-century estate, the Château de Villeneuve is built of the stone that gives the region its distinctive character: Tuffeau. The 25 hectares surrounding the Chevallier family’s estate produce complex wines with great character, within the Saumur and Saumur-Champigny appellations.

Vineyard management at Château de Villeneuve follows sustainable farming practices, prioritizing grass cover between the rows with meadow grass to optimize root development and water uptake by the vines.

The Château de Villeneuve’s AOC Saumur and AOC Saumur-Champigny wines are vinified in cellars carved into tuffeau limestone, where the temperature remains constant at 12°C. The aging process for Saumur-Champigny and Saumur Blanc takes place in 400- to 500-liter barrels known locally as “tonnes.” Since the 15th century, Château de Villeneuve ’s wines have consistently held a prominent place among lovers of Loire Valley wines.
