Château de Villeneuve

The Château de Villeneuve is located on the plateau overlooking the Loire, offering a breathtaking view of the wild river. A magnificent 18th-century estate, the Château de Villeneuve is built of the stone that defines the region’s terroir: Tuffeau. The 25 hectares surrounding the Chevallier family’s estate produce complex wines with great character, within the Saumur and Saumur-Champigny appellations.

Vineyard management at Château de Villeneuve follows sustainable practices, prioritizing grass cover between the rows with meadow grass to optimize root development and water uptake by the vines.

The Château de Villeneuve’s AOC Saumur and AOC Saumur-Champigny wines are vinified in cellars carved into tuffeau limestone, where the temperature remains constant at 12°C. The aging of the Saumur-Champigny and Saumur Blanc wines takes place in 400- to 500-liter barrels known locally as “tonnes.” Since the 15th century, the wines of Château de Villeneuve have consistently held a special place among lovers of Loire Valley wines.
