"The 2018 Kumeu River Sauvignon Blanc comes from a vineyard in Hawke's Bay that was originally established as part of a partnership between Trinity Hill and the Jolivet family from the Loire Valley. It is made from hand-harvested grapes fermented with native yeasts, before being aged (briefly) in stainless steel. The nose is marked by notes of nectarine and pink grapefruit, while the medium-bodied palate features a silky texture and a lively, tart finish, with notes of lime and fresh herbs.” (Wine Advocate 2019). Disappointing... a price that bears no relation to the poor quality of this bottle. A world of difference compared to the fabulous DOG POINT.

Compared to the 2019 Greywacke Sauvignon, this wine has a more pronounced acidity that may seem excessive to some palates, but is quite pleasant for anyone who enjoys New Zealand whites

Expressive nose with floral aromas. Fresh and lively on the palate (residual CO2), but the finish is too short for this price point. The finish has a hint of bitterness. I must admit I was disappointed given the ratings.

Nice acidity, but with fairly pronounced bitter notes. Best left to age a bit

New Zealand and Australian wines are among the very best white wines available (especially Sauvignons). This little gem is a delicious example of that. A bit pricey, perhaps, but when you love something...
