Here is a sublime Bandol that will delight your taste buds with its unique notes of coffee, spices, and salted butter, complemented by dark berries. When it’s young, be sure to open it a little in advance, as the dominant Mourvèdre needs time to mellow before being enjoyed. A warm, southern wine that whets your appetite for Mediterranean dishes.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2023 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
Planted in 1980 and purchased in 2010 by Caroline and Philippe Chauvin, this 15-hectare estate—eight of which are in Bandol—is situated on a hillside and laid out in terraces. Facing north and descending a fairly steep slope, the vineyard is rising from the ashes. With the construction of a beautiful winery, seamlessly integrated into the landscape, and the opening of a farmhouse inn offering a wide range of products from their own production, the estate takes the concepts of hospitality and terroir very seriously.
