(2017 Vintage Notes)

This lovely table white is made from a selection of Rolle grapes grown on the “La Bergerie” plot, harvested in two separate passes to ensure perfect ripeness. Its subtle nose reveals notes of pear, acacia blossoms, and delicate toasty hints. Generous and round, this white wine is well-balanced by briny notes, and the skillful use of oak complements the fruit while adding subtle spicy and toasty notes. This is a perfect expression of the La Londe terroir!

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated (2019 guide) 15.5/20 (2017 vintage) (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable vintage, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Located just 900 meters from the sea, this family-owned estate of nearly 80 hectares sold its entire production in bulk until Yannick Burles joined as technical director in 2012. Most of the production is now bottled on the estate; exceptional vintages are being produced, and year after year the wines are improving admirably. The vineyards are being carefully restructured, which bodes well for the future of this rising star of the La Londe appellation, which is now contributing to the vibrancy of the wines from this town with undeniable potential. The current team is making these wines truly shine.

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated wine (2020 guide) 1*Star (2017 vintage) (A very successful wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

This vineyard, whose existence has been documented since the 10th century, became the property of the Carthusian Fathers of La Verne in 1588. In 1855, Horace Vernet, the official painter to Napoleon III, acquired it and built a château on the estate. In 1920, it was purchased by the Faré family, who still own the estate today. They resumed bottling on the estate in 2010 and, in 2018, entrusted the management of its 65 hectares of vineyards to Julie Barneau and Christophe Deffilippi.

Excellent! Such finesse—such a silky wine with complex fruitiness! It’s like a top-tier Burgundy! It’s just a touch oaky; I think it’ll be perfect in a year!

Slightly woody on the first sip. Letting it breathe does it good and brings out pleasant fruity aromas; it has a lovely body. This wine is a real pleasure to drink.
