Château Miraval
Owned by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt since 2008, the Miraval vineyard spans 30 hectares across the Côtes de Provence AOC, Coteaux Varois AOC, and Vin de France (for reds only).
The Perrin family, owners of the renowned Château Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, has been responsible for managing the vineyard and producing the wines of Château de Miraval since 2011.
Although the estate confirms that its vineyard is managed using organic farming methods, the wines have not been certified organic since the 2012 vintage because some of the grapes may come from the wine trade, which is not always certified.
Château de Miraval produces a range of four wines: a Côtes de Provence rosé, a Côtes de Provence white, a Coteaux Varois white, and a Vin de France red.
Once vinified, the wines are bottled by the Perrin family, who use high-quality equipment to ensure an optimal amount of dissolved oxygen during the process.
Château de Miraval Rosé: A True Ode to Art
Built in the 12th century and located in Provence, the Château de Miraval spans approximately 1,000 hectares. This idyllic setting, filled with vineyards and olive groves, has a way of transporting you to another world. Indeed, renowned worldwide, it is also known for being home to the Miraval Studio. The studio was founded by jazz composer and pianist Jacques Loussier. The Miraval estate is thus undeniably linked to culture through its high standards.Great minds meet and create great wines
Shared excellence requires constant dedication. And it was the partnership between wine and art enthusiasts that led to the most sublime refinement. In 2012, one year after purchasing the estate, the Jolie-Pitt couple and winemaker Perrin propelled Château Miraval’s rosé to the top of the podium. It was ranked among Wine Spectator magazine’s top 100 wines of the year. This is a crowning achievement that recognizes the very essence of Miraval’s wine and rewards their hard work. How did the owners achieve such a high level of perfection in such a short time?Soil knowledge as the foundation of unparalleled expertise
The Perrin family, which originally worked the vineyards of Vaucluse, brings all its expertise to the production of Miraval wine. The cultivated soils are clay-limestone. They have chosen a site with partial exposure to the sun for the Miraval Côtes de Provence vineyards. The elevation here is 350 meters. Indeed, the cool climate and significant temperature variations between day and night give the wine its full harmony. The elegance of subtle red fruit notes is complemented by more citrusy, salty, and mineral notes. This brings us back to the soul of this place. When the art of making must goes hand in hand with a symphony of flavors
Miraval wine from Provence fully expresses the intensity of its creators’ passion for art. You’ll experience all the magic of their artistic achievements as you savor this wine from the Miraval estate. Indeed, it’s as if, for the duration of a visit, time were frozen forever, allowing every note composed in the studio to shine through like an ode to the aromas of this elixir. So how can one capture its spirit, and what are its components? All the originality of a composition, designed to enhance the tasting experience
Below, we outline the characteristics that define the authenticity of Miraval's Côte de Provence wine.Grape Varieties
This terroir, combined with the owners’ curiosity and hard work, has led to the cultivation of grape varieties such as: • Cinsault • Grenache • Rolle • Syrah. It is the blend of these varieties on soils subject to significant temperature fluctuations—as mentioned earlier—that has given rise to the subtle Côte de Provence Miraval rosé. As a result, this blend pairs well with all kinds of dishes, provided certain conditions are met.How should Miraval wine be served?
To appreciate its finesse and freshness, it should be served: • Between 8 and 10 °C • With Asian, European, Mexican, or Brazilian dishes, for example. In conclusion, it is an extraordinary discovery and deserves its ranking in more ways than one, striking a balance between elegance and creativity.Wine estates recommended by
