Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2019 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to expectations for its appellation(s))
About the estate:
Already the owner of Quinta do Pessegueiro in the Douro, Roger Zannier aims to make Château Saint-Maur one of Provence’s finest wines. Located 10 kilometers from Saint-Tropez and sheltered from the mistral by the Maures Mountains, the vineyard enjoys an east-west exposure. Sheltered from the winds yet benefiting from a maritime influence that tempers the intense summer heat, it spans 60 hectares, 45 of which are currently under cultivation. On clay-limestone soil, the vines follow the curve of the hills, rising gradually to the edge of the forest. Since 2013, the estate has been equipped with a new high-tech winery, as well as a new retail space. Here, art makes a successful foray into the winery, with temporary exhibitions by original and cutting-edge artists.
