Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Jacqueline Bichot, a pharmacist who became a winemaker, fell in love with this ideally situated vineyard, with Mount Sainte-Victoire as its backdrop. It lies at an elevation of 400 meters, in a region where the cool climate is reflected in the wines. The Sainte-Victoire terroir produces pure, elegant wines here that perfectly reflect their origins. Having earned organic and biodynamic certification in 2017, she has demonstrated the seriousness of her approach and continues to carefully tend her 47 hectares of vines on the clay-limestone soil typical of the appellation.

About the estate:
The estate takes its name from the Chapel of Saint-Ser, dedicated to a 5th-century hermit who, ignoring the threats of the Visigothic ruler Enric, was beheaded. Cultivated using biodynamic methods, its vineyard (46 ha) stretches across a prime terroir of limestone gravel on the southern slope of Sainte-Victoire Mountain, where the grapes enjoy maximum sunlight.
