Rating: Robert Parker 88/100
“With ripe red fruit flavors, this lovely blend of 92% Syrah and 8% Viognier—the 2012 Syrah-Viognier—offers classic Northern Rhône notes of violet, plum, and meaty nuances in a fresh, elegant, and supple profile. It showcases the Syrah beautifully and remains very affordable.” (Wine Advocate, Dec. 2013 – Robert Parker). A fruity, indulgent, and harmonious wine...

Eye
A bright, fairly deep ruby color with purple highlights
Nose
Fruity, rich, and well-balanced, with aromas of blackcurrant and blueberry intertwined with hints of spice
Palate
With a fresh attack, the wine is lively and mineral, with smooth, rounded tannins. The roundness and finesse of the Viognier allow for the creation of a wine that is more powerful and indulgent than a simple Syrah.

About the estate:
“This very young wine merchant was founded through a partnership between the Perrin family (of Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape) and Nicolas Jaboulet (former director of the family-owned Paul Jaboulet et Fils). These two heavyweights from the southern and northern parts of the valley have launched a small collection of wines from the north. The wines are selected from the barrels before malolactic fermentation at the growers’ estates; aging is then completed at Perrin, near Orange. This is followed by blending. The whites are precise, dry, and well-structured, offering a solid mid-range quality. To date, we prefer the vibrancy and depth of the reds.”
