"Don't miss it!"

"A new edition from this estate, the 2018 Cairanne comes entirely from hillside plots and is composed of 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah. It has a wonderful profile, full-bodied and seductive, with lots of aromas and flavors of blue and black fruits, licorice, and bouquet garni. It is a pure, balanced wine and a very interesting barrel sample." (Jeb Dunnuck)

Wine rating (2020 guide) 90/100 (Outstanding wine)

Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About wine:

A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah, Michel & Tina Gassier's 2018 Cairanne offers a stunning combination of dried herbs—mint, bay leaf, and rosemary—and tart red berries. It is medium-bodied, silky and expressive, with a beautiful texture that lingers in the slightly tannic finish. It should be ready to drink in 4 to 5 years.

Rated estate Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

With great pragmatism and sound principles, Michel Gassier restructured the vineyard and equipped himself with the means to produce fine wines, both white and red. The prestigious Joseph Torrès vintages reach their full potential after one to three years in the bottle, while the other wines can be enjoyed in their early youth.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 06/05/2022

Domaine GASSIER offers a lovely Cairanne with a rich, full-bodied character, but with such fine, velvety tannins that it reveals great depth and density of pure, juicy red and black fruit. The small amount of Syrah adds pleasant spicy flavors, highlighted by black pepper, licorice, and violet notes that provide extraordinary freshness and lightness on the finish. Like the estate's other vintages, this Cairanne is also appealing for its attractive price. After decanting, pair with matured Simmental rib steak and homemade fries cooked in duck fat.
