"Sourced entirely from the sandy soils of the Cristia vineyard, the 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes is a resounding success, ranking among the top wines of the vintage. Offering superb notes of licorice, blackberry, caramelized meats, chocolate, and aromatic herbs, it impresses the palate with its structured richness, beautiful texture, balance, and superb length. In short, this old-vine Grenache is a true triumph , one that will be best enjoyed for the next decade or more." (Wine Advocate 2014 - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 15/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2016 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable vintage, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the wine:
Colourful, powerful, dense in texture, very spicy, strong character and good aging potential.
About the estate:
La Cristia is a magnificent vineyard site near Rayas, ideal for the fine-grained character of Grenache grapes, much like Roquette, where the estate also owns a vineyard. Étienne Grangeon skillfully crafts superb wines from this exceptional raw material, but he does so with boldness and a constant quest for the ideal style—one he has not yet found.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2016 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
A winery founded in 1942 by the grandfather, expanded and improved by the father, Alain Grangeon. A new leap in quality began in 1999 with the third generation (Baptiste, Dominique, and Florent): bottled sales, reduced yields, single-vineyard selections, and the gradual conversion of the 56 hectares to organic farming. A benchmark in Châteauneuf.
