Wine rated (2023 guide) 96/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About wine:

Great power, sumptuous depth, the greatest Mont-Redon in a long time, magnificent intensity, very fine tannins, great spice, length and aromatic persistence, extraordinary dimension. In the collection of glorious years, between 1995 and the ever-exceptional 1961.

About the estate:

Mont-Redon is a vast estate covering around 100 hectares of vineyards in Châteauneuf (out of a total of 150 hectares planted), occupying a large part of the plateau of rounded pebbles that bears the estate's name, as well as a section planted opposite the estate. Alongside the long-standing unique Châteauneuf red cuvée, a superb single vineyard selection, Le Plateau, has been created. Although never considered one of the most spectacular wines of the appellation, this vintage ages very well and imposes its quiet fullness. The family also produces quality whites, numerous Côtes-du-Rhône wines, and owns a property in Lirac.

Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About wine:

The best "regular" Mont-Redon I can remember, the 2019 Châteauneuf du Pape is wonderfully full-bodied yet silky and harmonious, while the nose offers sweet notes of garrigue and purple raspberries. The tannins on the finish are supple, and the flavors add cola-like spice notes to the mentholated finish.

About wine:

Enchanting and complex nose of red fruits, tobacco leaf, licorice, and delicate spices. Very sensual, rich, and refined palate, with a range of nuances that one could spend hours studying. Superb interplay of ripe fruit with hints of raw meat and smoked bacon. Very long and silky finish inviting the next sip.
