“A Condrieu that’s highly recommended in every way!”

"The 2023 Condrieu Vieilles Vignes is another tour de force from this producer. Stone fruits, toasted nuts, orange liqueur, and crushed stone give this wine a slightly more mineral and masculine character. The medium- to full-bodied palate is concentrated, pure, and structured, with great freshness and remarkable length, and a touch of salinity on the finish. It is intended for the table and should be enjoyed through 2033.” (Jeb Dunnuck 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 5*Stars (Exceptional producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)

About the estate:

Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent founded this prestigious winery in the early 1990s, establishing themselves as one of the top micro-negociants in the Rhône Valley. Today, Bastien and Michel Tardieu travel throughout the vineyards to source the finest grapes, typically from very old vines, often located in the historic heart of each appellation. A real transformation has taken place in recent vintages: large-capacity barrels, whole-cluster vinification for certain cuvées, and above all, more measured aging have raised the already excellent standard to a new level. A sure bet in the region.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

With a shade slightly deeper (barely) than the classic Condrieu, the 2023 Condrieu Vieilles Vignes is another tour de force from this producer. Stone fruits, toasted nuts, orange liqueur, and crushed stone give this wine a slightly more mineral and masculine character. The medium- to full-bodied palate is concentrated, pure, and structured, with great freshness and remarkable length, and a touch of salinity on the finish. It is intended for the table and should be enjoyed through 2033. Tardieu-Laurent’s Condrieus are brilliant wines.
