“A fine white wine for fine dining”

“Big, ripe, opulent, and sexy, the 2021 Hermitage Blanc offers orchard fruit and honeyed quince, a medium- to full-bodied structure, hints of acacia blossoms and spices, a structured and decadent palate, and that rare blend of freshness and richness that is so hard to achieve.” (Jeb Dunnuck 2023)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 5*Stars (Exceptional producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)

About the estate:

Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent founded this prestigious winery in the early 1990s, establishing themselves as one of the top micro-negociants in the Rhône Valley. Today, Bastien and Michel Tardieu travel throughout the vineyards to source the finest grapes, typically from very old vines, often located in the historic heart of each appellation. A real transformation has taken place in recent vintages: large-capacity barrels, whole-cluster vinification for certain cuvées, and above all, more measured aging have raised the already excellent standard to a new level. A sure bet in the region.

6-Star Rated Estate (Exceptional Production)

About the estate:

A wine enthusiast, Michel Tardieu teamed up with Dominique Laurent, the brilliant Burgundian wine merchant and winemaker, to launch a small wine trading business about ten years ago. Michel Tardieu is unmatched in his ability to unearth old-vine cuvées across all the Rhône appellations; add to that Dominique Laurent’s expertise in aging, with his magnificent barrels, and you have a dynamic duo that crafts the most extraordinary cuvées in the Rhône.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 18/20

About the wine:

A distinct honeysuckle aroma. Floral notes on the nose. A hint of earthiness—long and exciting. Should age well, though it’s already quite lovely. More depth than the 2021 Condrieu.

Vinous

Vinous

Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

The 2021 Hermitage Blanc is a blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne. It was aged for one year in new and one-use barrels, followed by another year in Austrian oak casks. Swirl the glass to reveal lively aromas of lemon zest, yellow apple, pear, honeysuckle, and subtle cedar. Medium-bodied to full-bodied with a slightly viscous texture, the 2021 is a powerful Hermitage Blanc with good momentum on the complex finish.

James Suckling

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

A lovely bouquet of yellow plums, dried herbs, peaches, honeysuckle, and sweet spices. Full-bodied with low acidity. A round, velvety texture with body and balance. Full of energy with a delicious, generous finish. Enjoy now or celller.
