"A great white wine for fine dining"

"Tall, mature, opulent, and sexy, the 2021 Hermitage Blanc features orchard fruits and honeyed quince, medium to full body, hints of acacia flowers and spices, a structured and decadent palate, and that rare blend of freshness and richness that is so difficult to achieve." (Jeb Dunnuck 2023)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 5 stars (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)

About the estate:

Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent created this association of excellence in the early 1990s, becoming one of the best micro-negociants in the Rhône Valley. Today, Bastien and Michel Tardieu scour the vineyards to find the best supplies, usually grapes from very old vines, often located in the historic heart of each appellation. A real change has taken place in recent vintages: large barrels, whole-bunch vinification for certain cuvées and, above all, more measured aging have raised the already excellent standard to a new level. A sure bet in the region.

6*Star rating (Exceptional production)

About the estate:

A wine enthusiast, Michel Tardieu teamed up with Dominique Laurent, the brilliant Burgundy wine merchant and winemaker, to start a small wine trading business about ten years ago. Michel Tardieu is unrivaled in his ability to unearth vintages from old vines in all the Rhône appellations. Add to that Dominique Laurent's expertise in aging wine in magnificent barrels, and you have a dynamic duo that produces the most extraordinary vintages in the Rhône.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 18/20

About wine:

Genuine honeysuckle nose. Floral notes on the nose. A hint of root—long and exciting. Should age well. Although it is already very good. More depth than the 2021 Condrieu.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100

About wine:

The 2021 Hermitage Blanc is a blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne. It was aged for one year in new and one-year-old barrels, followed by another year in Austrian oak casks. Swirl the glass to discover lively aromas of lemon peel, yellow apple, pear, honeysuckle, and subtle cedar. Medium-bodied to full-bodied with a slightly viscous texture, the 2021 is a powerful Hermitage Blanc with good dynamics on the complex finish.

About wine:

Attractive nose of yellow plums, dried herbs, peaches, honeysuckle, and sweet spices. Full-bodied with low acidity. Round and caressing texture with volume and balance. Full of energy with a delicious and generous finish. Enjoy now or cellar.
