"A hell of a profile for a charming cuvée".

"A concentrated, well-structured Condrieu with texture and tension. Notes of white peaches, white flowers and warm herbs on the nose, followed by a medium body with plenty of volume and a linear palate. Concentrated and dynamic, with a refreshing bitter almond character on a lemony finish. Enjoy or keep. (James Suckling 2025)

5-star rated estates (Outstanding producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)

About the domain :

Emma Amsellem has joined her mother Christine Vernay to develop the rugged hillsides of Condrieu and Côte Rôtie, lands drenched in sunshine when frost doesn't interfere, as in 2021, a vintage Emma is not about to forget since she had just returned to the domaine. Beyond the vagaries of the weather, the year was a great success for the whites, with saline expressions well in place. A vintage in which we find all the splendor of the Vernon hillside.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 96/100

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of the French vineyard. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wines is always a magical experience)

About the domain :

Christine Vernay, who brilliantly took over the reins of this emblematic Condrieu estate in 1996, is slowly handing over to her daughter, Emma Amsellem. While the estate is intimately linked to the history of the Condrieu appellation, of which it is still the most brilliant representative, it also offers a remarkable selection of reds whose maturation has been refined in recent years. Tasting a decade-old Condrieu cuvée here reveals the potential of this terroir, too often overwhelmed by the varietal notes of Viognier. The energy and potential contained in the estate's wines set a benchmark.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 17,5/20

About the wine:

The only Vernay wine in the range bottled in an Alsatian-style bottle, which makes me wonder if that says something about the style of the wine? It may be autosuggestion due to the shape of the bottle, but there seems to be a slight hint of gasoline alongside the more characteristic aromas of juicy apricot and gardenia. This wine is very intense and concentrated, but also fresher than many Condrieus.
