"Fruit, mocha, and peppercorns!"

“A peppery, mineral-driven blend of Syrah and Grenache. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe plums, blackcurrants, and blueberry jam. Medium-bodied, with velvety tannins. It offers lovely notes of ripe fruit and a hint of spice in its dense, generous finish.” (James Suckling 2025)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 1*Star (A high-quality, recommended production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

In 2004, Pascal Glas decided to take over the family vineyards after having produced wine for more than twenty years in cooperative wineries in the south of France. Located on the northwestern edge of the Costières de Nîmes appellation, he crafts straightforward, honest wines with exemplary balance and purity of fruit. The wines are refreshing, with beautiful depth of fruit, yet never overpowering.

Review and comment by Mr. JEROME M. Posted on March 27, 2026

Powerful, with fresh peppery notes, black fruit, and a subtle hint of blackcurrant and plum that run through this nectar. I love it. And best of all, it’s exactly what I was hoping for—very typical of the Costière de Nîmes.
