“With a modern style and well-integrated oak, featuring aromas of blackberry, licorice, and toasted spices, the 2011 Côtes du Rhône Villages Réserve is medium-bodied to full-bodied, fabulously pure, crisp, and silky. The quality of the tannins here is remarkable, with abundant aromas of sweet fruit. Best enjoyed within the next 3 to 5 years.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2016 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the estate:

In the Haut-Vaucluse region, nestled against the Dentelles de Séguret, the Domaine de l’Amauve is a distinguished representative of the appellation, led by the inspiring Christian Voeux. Deeply committed to sustainable viticultural practices, Voeux draws on the experience he gained at Château Mont Redon and also produces wine at Château La Nerthe in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. He sensitively brings out the character of the old vines growing on the estate’s 20 hectares of sandy and stony soil.

This single-vineyard blend of Grenache (80%) and Syrah offers a lovely nose of stewed red fruits with subtle oak notes. Intense and concentrated yet fresh, the palate is supported by beautiful, refined tannins.

About the estate:

As the heir to several generations of winemakers, Christian Voeux—an experienced oenologist associated with several Rhône Valley estates—took over the family estate’s 10.5 hectares in 2006.
