"The oldest Grenache vines"
Family Grenache 2016 is magnificent, with a deep purple color followed by an incredibly complex bouquet of black cherries and spicy blueberries mixed with hints of licorice, lavender, peppery garrigue, and violet. A deep, rich and powerful Grenache supported by beautiful freshness, ripe tannins and a superb mineral finish. It would easily hold its own in a blind tasting against select Châteauneuf-du-Papes." About the estate:
Nestled between Mont Ventoux and the charming village of Séguret, the Mourchon estate covers 35 hectares, resting on a combination of clay and limestone soils.

About wine:
The full-bodied Grenache in the 2016 Réserve Familiale is another exceptional wine from Mourchon. Although probably higher in alcohol than the 2015, it shows none of the heat, offering instead great flavors of black cherry and plum, ample substance, and a long, firm finish. It should have unusual aging potential for a Grenache-based Côtes du Rhône Villages wine.

Wine rated 92/100 (Exceptional wine)
About wine:
Ripe and fleshy on the palate, with waves of plum and blackcurrant jam, supported by notes of tobacco and roasted apple wood, and showing a hint of graphite at the very end. Solid.

About wine:
Deep garnet. Rich, sweet, and prickly on the nose. This grape variety, although clearly harvested at the peak of ripeness, seems so much more at home here than Syrah! There are hints of strawberry jam and masses of garrigue-scented fruit, followed by fine tannins.
