About the estate:

This is the largest and likely one of the oldest estates in Gigondas, run by Pierre Amadieu, the current owner and one of the most dedicated figures in the village. The estate boasts breathtaking vineyards in La Machotte, Le Pas de l’Aigle, and Romane, among others. At an altitude of 400 meters, the Grenache grapes are harvested at full ripeness to be fermented and aged for an extended period in large oak casks, some of which are over half a century old. The other appellations offered are treated with the same care. A true Favorite rosés, the reds demonstrate their aging potential, while the whites possess admirable freshness.

About the wine:

Deep magenta. Generous aromas of ripe red and blue fruits, potpourri, and licorice, accompanied by smoky mineral notes and exotic spices. It offers juicy, penetrating flavors of raspberry, sour cherry, and floral notes that become sweeter with aeration. Velvety, well-integrated tannins add subtle grip to an impressively long, spice-tinged finish that clearly echoes the blueberry and floral notes.

Aromas of blackberry, redcurrant, leather, dried thyme, roasted meat, and a spice cabinet. Full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Lively and energetic, with a refined structure and texture. Vibrant on the palate, with bright acidity and freshness leading into a concentrated finish. Grenache and Syrah. Best after 2029.

About the wine:

Tasted immediately after bottling, the 2019 Gigondas Le Pas De L'Aigle proved magnificent, with aromas and flavors of kirsch, blackberry, herbes de Provence, and toasted spices. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, pure and well-integrated on the palate, this is yet another vintage of this cuvée that will have a long and broad drinking window. It should age well until 2035.
