"Powerful nose of black fruit, spices and leather. In keeping with the solar dimension of the vintage, with an unctuous, round and savory palate. Great tannin quality with silky character, mineral (pencil lead) finish, energetic and racy. A serious wine with what it takes to blossom over time". About the wine:
Powerful nose of black fruit, spices and leather. In keeping with the solar dimension of the vintage, with an unctuous, round and savory palate. High-quality tannins with a silky character, mineral finish (pencil lead), energetic and racy. A serious wine with what it takes to blossom over time.
About the domain :
This is the largest and probably one of the oldest estates in Gigondas, run by current owner Pierre Amadieu, one of the most committed men in the village. The estate boasts breathtaking plots on La Machotte, Pas de l'Aigle and Romane, among others. At an altitude of 400 meters, the Grenache grapes are harvested at full ripeness, then matured for a long time in foudres, some of which are over half a century old. The other appellations on offer are cared for with the same attention to detail. A real Favorite for rosés, the reds confirm their aptitude for ageing, while the whites are admirably fresh.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
The nose is dominated by sun-drenched red cherry aromas, surrounded by notes of white strawberry, raspberry and warm earth that frame the fruit with natural ease. From the outset, there's a sense of balance and accessibility, but the wine doesn't rest on its charm alone. On the palate, rhubarb, white pepper and a pinch of clove bring energy and texture to the mid-palate, while the minerality of pulverized stone adds length to the finish. To be rediscovered after 2028-2030+.

About the wine:
Gigondas Le Pas de L'Aigle 2022, with its pale ruby color, is medium to full-bodied, flavorful and complex. A blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah, it will be aged for two years in foudres, followed by a further year in bottle before release. This will be necessary, as the firm tannic structure needs time to soften. Nevertheless, the aromas and flavors are already revealing themselves quite well, including a mix of spice box, strawberry, raspberry, black cherry, graphite and a touch of menthol.

About the wine:
This Gigondas is as vast as the sky under which it grew. Intense aromas of Damascus plum and a richness of tar and licorice envelop the compact tannic structure at the heart of this very serious wine. Long, velvety finish, full of energy. From north-facing vineyards at 500 meters altitude. Made from organically grown grapes. Pure Grenache, aged for two years in foudres. Drink immediately upon release.

About the wine:
The Gigondas Le Pas De L'Aigle 2022 from this benchmark estate is composed of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah, aged in barrels for 24 months. It has a bright ruby color and a wonderful perfume of red and black fruits, cedar herbs and chocolate. This medium- to full-bodied wine, concentrated in 2022, offers magnificent tannins, a structured, well-balanced palate, and fine tannins that are adorned with a beautiful minerality on the finish. This wine deserves 2-3 years in the cellar, and will drink brilliantly over the next 10-12 years or more.
