Bettane & Desseauve

(2017 Vintage Notes)

A Cevennes grape variety that had fallen into obscurity following the phylloxera crisis, it has been experiencing an incredible resurgence in recent years. Usually a robust, full-bodied wine meant for aging that isn’t ready to drink until after three years, the Chatus—or Syramuse—is presented here as a fruit-forward wine, approachable like a casual everyday wine, allowing you to appreciate all the facets of the grape variety and the terroir. Let yourself be tempted by this original and exclusive varietal wine and its delicious flavor!

Exceptional value for money. It’s smooth, fruity, and full-bodied—it lingers on the palate and leaves you wanting more.

I enjoyed it with a slow-roasted pork shoulder—cooked for four hours in the oven—and found it to be an excellent pairing, with fruity notes, liveliness, and a rich, indulgent flavor. It offers great value for the price. I regret not ordering more a few months ago, but I wanted to try it first.
