Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Founded in 1986 by Francis Delorme and his son Christophe, the 58-hectare estate (certified organic and biodynamic) is spread across 38 plots and eight municipalities. Following Christophe’s untimely death in 2015, his wife Madeleine and their daughter Ambre took over the reins of the estate. Advocates of low yields, the Delormes produce vintages with disconcerting ease, whether in Tavel—their original stronghold—Lirac, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, or “simple” Côtes-du-Rhône. A must-try.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 89/100 (Very good wine)
Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
A blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah aged in tanks, the 2021 Lirac la Dame Rousse effortlessly combines notes of cherries and blueberries on the nose. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and taut, with silky tannins and a long, peppery finish.
Jancis Robinson
Wine rated (2022 guide) 15,5+/20
About the wine:
Tasted blind. Young, primary aromas—fresh dough, licorice. Good acidity with floral notes and dark berries hidden beneath a layer of fine tannins. Good fruit concentration that needs time to meld with the tannic structure but should integrate nicely.

Less sunny and less aromatic than the two previous vintages, La Dame Rousse 2021 nonetheless delivers a fine Lirac with a full-bodied profile—still as distinctive as ever, though moderately rich. Built on a tart framework, the palate is harmonious, supple, and lively, revealing concentrated flavors of black plum, blackcurrant, cherry, and raspberry, accented by hints of ginger and vanilla in the background. Great finesse of texture backed by silky yet still firm tannins. The finish is light and refreshing, with peppery notes. Clearly, it would be best to wait at least another year for the "Lady" to relax a bit. Also worth noting is a significant price increase in recent years. This cuvée was served with a royal couscous and harissa. Score = 3.8.

Medium-deep ruby color. On the nose, predominantly red fruit: cherries, cranberries, raspberries, and red currants. Also notes of undergrowth and some spice, with a hint of lovage. On the palate, the red fruit—especially red berries—comes through clearly. Firm tannins, but also fine acidity and grip. Medium-bodied, and the finish is on the short side. An elegant wine, to be sure. But given its reputation and price, I find the wine somewhat disappointing. Does have aging potential. Score: 15+/20
