The estate produces highly expressive wines from the finest vineyards in the Vaucluse and Gard regions. Founded in 1986 by Francis Delorme and his son Christophe, the 58-hectare estate (certified organic and biodynamic) is spread across 38 plots and eight municipalities. Following Christophe’s untimely death in 2015, his wife Madeleine and their daughter Ambre took over the reins of the estate. Advocates of low yields, the Delormes produce their vintages with disconcerting ease, whether in Tavel—their original stronghold—Lirac, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, or “simple” Côtes-du-Rhône. A must-try.

A blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah aged in tanks, the 2021 Lirac la Dame Rousse effortlessly combines notes of cherries and blueberries on the nose. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, taut, with silky tannins and a long, peppery finish.

Tasted blind. Young, primary aromas—fresh dough, licorice. Good acidity with floral notes and dark berries hidden beneath a layer of fine tannins. Good fruit concentration that needs time to blend with the tannic structure but should integrate nicely.

Aromas of spiced cherries, wild berries, and mild spices. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Well-structured and textured, with a velvety mid-palate. Balanced and harmonious, with a concentrated finish and excellent length. Made from biodynamically grown grapes certified by Demeter. Enjoy now or celller.
