Domaine Pierre Gaillard

Pierre Gaillard is an iconic winemaker from the Rhône Valley. With a degree in viticulture and oenology, he purchased Clos de Cuminaille in Malleval in 1981. In 2002, he founded Domaine Madeloc in Banyuls-sur-Mer, and in 2007, Domaine Cottebrune in Faugères. Today, Pierre Gaillard oversees 77 hectares of vineyards across all his estates.

The vineyards are spread across the northern Rhône Valley, from Côte-Rôtie in the north to Cornas in the south. They are situated on steep slopes in the foothills of the Massif Central.

Pierre Gaillard follows his inspiration while respecting the “raw material”: the grape. At Malleval, Madeloc, and Cottebrune, he seeks optimal conditions for hygiene and temperature control, combining hand-harvesting with plot-by-plot and grape-variety-by-variety winemaking. Pierre Gaillard’s wines express clean, precise fruit aromas, often with deep color and tannins that are present yet refined.
