"Rimage" is the translation of "vintage" and the term used by the Banyulencs to refer to the "wine of the year." Grenache Noir, long maceration, aging on lees, a few months in barrels, and here it is, dark and deep, very open with red fruit flavors, with toasted notes from aging in wood and softer, delicately milky notes from regular stirring on the lees. The palate is rich, smooth, and full-bodied, with remarkably fine tannins; cherry and blackcurrant meet a delicious spicy note. A marvel with dark chocolate or sweet and savory dishes." Aromatic and full of fruit, overripe red and black fruits (blackberry, cherry, blackcurrant), powerful aromas of prune and chocolate, light hints of vanilla.

Mouth

Creamy and indulgent. Rich and fleshy with overripe fruit, prunes, fresh black figs, notes of licorice, and chocolate. Round tannins, structured body, and a slightly mineral touch. Good length.

About the estate:

This Banyuls estate dates back to 1611! Jean-Louis Berta-Maillol took over from his father in 1996, followed by his brothers Michel and Georges in 2003 and 2009 respectively. Their 15 hectares of vines cling to the schist slopes of the Baillauri valley, laid out in terraces.

Drunk in February 2020 with a blue cheese platter. Deep, vibrant color. Aroma of overripe black fruits. Long, balanced finish. Magnificent.
