Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100
Rated estate (2024 guide): 3*Stars (These represent the excellence of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience.)
About the wine:
Les Calcinaires elegantly introduces the estate’s style—salivating, savory, and delicately smoky. It offers notes of candied lemon, citron, and fruit pulp.
About the estate:
Since his beginnings in the mid-1980s, Gérard Gauby has been an inspiring, demanding, and passionate winemaker. His vines are cultivated with love and respect for the plants and the ecosystem. He has revealed to the world the complexity and potential of the Calce terroir, with its limestone and iron-rich schist. The winemaker has also successfully evolved his style toward wines that are less heavily aged, purer, and more airy. Alongside his son, he continues this quest, and his wines are becoming increasingly expressive and delightful. The whites are exceptionally well-structured, with superb aging potential and meticulously controlled aging. The reds are pure and deep. The 2021 vintage reaches new heights in both white and red wines.
