About the wine:
Aged for over twenty years in oak, this amber-colored sherry has taken on a color that reflects its age, with golden-brown and coffee-colored highlights—a far cry from its original white hue. On the nose, as one judge put it, “it’s definitely rancio!” Indeed, notes of walnut and dried fruit come through immediately upon first sniff. Less pronounced on the palate than the rancio notes, the taste evokes cocoa, complemented by a gentle toasty note. The body is quite substantial, and the finish, with its notes of dried fruit, is very pleasant.
About the estate:
Acquired in 1992 by the Bertrand family, this 50-hectare estate, nestled against the hills of Castelnou, proudly features superb, well-restored 13th-century buildings. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2013.
