"The 2018 Pinot Noir displays a Burgundian profile at the foot of the Pyrenees: roundness, finesse, and complexity, with low pH and 40% whole cluster fermentation. " (Le Guide RVF 2024). The latest addition to Château Montus, the 2018 Pinot Noir has a rich, aromatic nose with notes of red fruit mingled with the subtle aromas of barrel aging. Full-bodied on the palate, it shows beautiful balance with a fine, elegant structure and silky tannins. A wine that reflects its terroir!

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About wine:

The 2018 Pinot Noir displays a Burgundian profile at the foot of the Pyrenees: roundness, finesse, and complexity, with low pH and 40% whole cluster fermentation.

About the estate:

Alain Brumont develops his personality through a style that has made Madiran wines famous throughout the world under the Château Montus label, which he bought in 1980. Often bucking conventional wisdom, Brumont's vintages reflect his great freedom in interpreting terroirs with yellow and red clay subsoils, ranging from 20 to 40%. Tannat is featured in the château's three wines, Prestige, XL, Montus and La Tyre, and certainly delivers the most spectacular profile of this difficult-to-handle Pyrenean grape.
