"A fine representative of the appellation!

"No wood to highlight a promising vintage, born of Merlot (60%) and Malbec. A colorful crimson robe, a nose leaning towards black fruit, a consistent, fat palate, with an intense, lively finish: the profile of a wine to keep well." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020)

3*Star rating (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

This property is the fiefdom of the de Conti family. Luc de Conti bought the estate in 1981. His cousin Francis and son Guillaume joined him, while daughter Margaux chose another estate (Barouillet) and son Gilles the beer route. 50 hectares are farmed organically, and a small part (12 hectares) biodynamically.

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the wine:

No wood to enhance this promising vintage, born of Merlot (60%) and Malbec. A colorful purple robe, a nose leaning towards black fruit, a consistent, fat palate, with an intense, lively finish: the profile of a wine to keep well.

About the domain :

Una storia italiana. In 1986, the de Conti brothers joined their lands, associated their families and founded the de Conti company. Jean, Luc, their wives and a cousin, Francis, who contributes his 20 ha, follow in the footsteps of Vincenzo, who arrived here in 1925. Joined by the last generation, they manage 60 ha of vines (organic since 2005), supplemented since 2000 by a trading structure that sells wines from neighboring winegrowers who have also converted to organic methods. In 2022, Gilles and Margaux took over.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 15,5/20 (Good wine)

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

Simple and authentic, just fruit and nothing else: the purity of Conti style in a juicy vintage.

About the domain :

The 52-hectare estate has been freshly split between the two branches of the family. Luc de Conti, who has been delighting us with his Bergerac wines for twenty-five years, has separated from his cousin and, with his children, Margaux and Gilles, is building a new future for the estate. The vineyard, entirely organic, produces powerful whites and classic Bergerac reds. From now on, beer, whisky and truffles will also be on the agenda of the label de Conti.

My first attempt at a Bergerac, I was blown away by the quality of the winemaking. We paired it with a duck breast with apricots, and it was a real treat.
