Château Laurou
Taken over in 1997 by Guy Salmona, Château Laurou is located near the Tarn River and covers an area of 45 hectares of vineyards in the Fronton AOC.
The soils consist of white boulbènes (sandy), relatively poor soils where the vines thrive. The vineyard is rich in a grape variety unique to the appellation: Négrette (51%), which offers aromatic finesse and surprising complexity, giving the wines their distinctive character. These are complemented by Syrah (27%), Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), Gamay (8%), and Fer Servadou (1%).
Château Laurou has been in the process of converting to organic farming since 2009 and has been certified organic since 2013.
