Château Lamartine

Château Lamartine is a 32-hectare family estate, mainly planted with Malbec on the terraces of the Lot Valley in southwestern France. Originally part of a very large estate dating back to Gallo-Roman times, Château Lamartine suffered the ravages of the wars of the Middle Ages and managed to survive until the phylloxera attack in 1878. A few Auxerrois (Malbec) vines were nevertheless preserved by Edouard Serougne, who fell in love with the owner of the estate and this grape variety in the 1920s. In 1930, he motivated a few colleagues to found the first union for the defense of Cahors wine.

Château Lamartine is a sure bet in the region, as the quality and consistency of its wines are unanimously praised with each new vintage. The different vintages of Château Lamartine express all the typical characteristics of the Cahors vineyard through their origins, terroir, and historic grape varieties. The wines of Château Lamartine are rare, expressive, concentrated, and carefully aged.
