Lamartine Castle
Château Lamartine is a 32-hectare family-owned estate, primarily planted with Malbec on the terraces of the Lot Valley in southwestern France. Originating from a vast estate dating back to the Gallo-Roman era, Château Lamartine suffered the ravages of the wars of the Middle Ages and managed to survive until the phylloxera outbreak in 1878. A few Auxerrois (Malbec) vines were nevertheless preserved by Edouard Serougne, who fell in love with the estate’s owner and this grape variety in the 1920s. By 1930, he had inspired a few like-minded colleagues to found the first association dedicated to promoting Cahors wine.

Château Lamartine is a reliable staple of the region, as the quality and consistency of its wines are universally praised at every tasting of a new vintage. Through their origins, terroir, and historic grape varieties, Château Lamartine’s various cuvées fully express the distinctive character of the Cahors vineyards. Château Lamartine’s wines are rare, expressive, concentrated, and meticulously aged.
