2*Coup de Coeur

Hachette

"A sure bet for this vintage, which has won over many hearts before. The color is ruby with beautiful orange highlights. The nose combines finesse and elegance, centered on ripe fruit enhanced by spicy, roasted, and toasty notes from the aging process. The palate is particularly aromatic and rich. It is supported by silky, refined tannins and a restrained freshness that lends this very balanced wine lovely length and vibrancy." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)

About the wine:

A sure bet for this vintage, which has won over many hearts before. The color is ruby red with beautiful orange highlights. The nose combines finesse and elegance, centered on ripe fruit and enhanced by spicy, roasted, and toasty notes from the aging process. The palate is particularly aromatic and rich. It is supported by silky, refined tannins and a restrained freshness that lends this very balanced wine lovely length and vibrancy.

About the estate:

Puy-Servain is the name of the hamlet and means “peak” (puy) and “windy” (servain). Daniel Hecquet was a winemaker at the famous Château d’Yquem before returning to the family estate in Ponchapt, which today comprises 47 hectares of vineyards. He is a pillar of the Bergerac region for his Montravel and Haut-Montravel wines.

"It has a bland, insipid quality that makes it seem like a mass-produced wine. It might have been flattering at one point, but it just doesn't hold up!"
