"The 2018 Cornalin de Fully, with its dark red color, opens with an intense, concentrated, perfectly ripe background, a pure, floral nose with spicy cigar box and licorice aromas, as well as notes of black berries, cherries, and nougat. [...] This red wine from the Alps has intense, long-lasting fruity aromas, as well as floral aromas and a unique freshness and vitality that come from both the soil and the climate. It is an extraordinary Alpine red with subtle bitterness and very good aging potential." (Wine Advocate 2021)

About wine:
Grown on loamy, sandy soils covering the gneiss of the Follatères, Ly Tatzes, and Combe d'Enfer areas (which normally produces its own cuvée), the 2018 Cornalin de Fully is dark red in color and opens with an intense, concentrated, perfectly ripe background, a pure, floral nose with spicy cigar box and licorice aromas, as well as notes of black berries, cherries, and nougat. Fermented as whole clusters and aged in used 500- and 1,200-liter oak vats for 15 to 18 months, this biennial, very low-yield red is fascinating in its purity, freshness, elegance, and silky texture. This red wine from the Alps has intense, long-lasting fruity aromas, as well as floral aromas and a unique freshness and vitality that come from both the soil and the climate. It is an extraordinary Alpine red with subtle bitterness and very good aging potential. Tasted in March 2021.

Note and opinion by Mr. DIDIER P. Published on 10/11/2022
A Valaisan perfection, a region that is too little known. Oily appearance, shiny but very dark. The opposite of translucent! Mineral nose with a hint of oak and vegetal notes. Finally, we discover wild berries (blueberries). The palate initially suggests a well-concentrated Syrah. Taste of vegetal notes, wild berries with a subtle hint of pepper. Very interesting, deserves a powerful meat such as a Saint Joseph or even a Hermitage. Excellent.
