age-worthy wine

“The 2018 Cornalin de Fully, with its deep red color, opens with an intense, concentrated, perfectly ripe profile; a pure, floral nose with spicy cigar box and licorice aromas, as well as notes of blackberries, cherries, and nougat. [...] This red wine from the Alps has intense, lingering fruit aromas as well as floral notes, along with a unique freshness and vitality that stem from both the soil and the climate. It is an extraordinary Alpine red with subtle bitterness and excellent aging potential.” (Wine Advocate 2021)

About the wine:

Grown in the loamy and sandy soils covering the gneiss in the Follatères and Ly Tatzes vineyards and throughout the Combe d'Enfer (which normally produces its own cuvée), the 2018 Cornalin de Fully, with its dark red color, opens with an intense, concentrated, perfectly ripe base, a pure and floral nose with spicy cigar box and licorice aromas, as well as notes of black berries, cherries, and nougat. Fermented whole-cluster and aged in used 500- and 1,200-liter oak barrels for 15 to 18 months, this biennial red with very low yields is captivating in its purity, freshness, elegance, and silky texture. This Alpine red wine features intense, lingering fruit aromas as well as floral notes, along with a unique freshness and vitality derived from both the soil and the climate. It is an extraordinary Alpine red with subtle bitterness and excellent aging potential. Tasted in March 2021.
