"The 2018 Cornalin de Fully, with its deep red color, opens with an intense, concentrated, perfectly ripe profile, featuring a pure, floral nose with spicy cigar box and licorice aromas, as well as notes of blackberries, cherries, and nougat. [...] This red wine from the Alps has intense, lingering fruit aromas as well as floral notes, along with a unique freshness and vitality that stem from both the soil and the climate. It is an extraordinary Alpine red with subtle bitterness and excellent aging potential.” (Wine Advocate 2021)

About the wine:
Grown on the loamy and sandy soils covering the gneiss in the Follatères and Ly Tatzes vineyards and throughout the Combe d'Enfer (which normally produces its own cuvée), the 2018 Cornalin de Fully, with its dark red color, opens with an intense, concentrated, perfectly ripe base, a pure and floral nose with spicy cigar box and licorice aromas, as well as notes of black berries, cherries, and nougat. Fermented as whole clusters and aged in used 500- and 1,200-liter oak barrels for 15 to 18 months, this biennial red wine with very low yields is captivating in its purity, freshness, elegance, and silky texture. This Alpine red wine features intense, lingering fruit aromas as well as floral notes, along with a unique freshness and vitality that stem from both the soil and the climate. It is an extraordinary Alpine red with subtle bitterness and excellent aging potential. Tasted in March 2021.

A masterpiece from Valais, a region that remains largely undiscovered. The wine has an oily, glossy appearance, though very dark. The opposite of translucent! The nose is mineral, with a hint of oak and vegetal notes. Finally, it opens up to reveal wild berries (blueberries). On the palate, it initially brings to mind a well-concentrated Syrah. Flavors of vegetation and wild berries with a subtle peppery note. Very interesting; deserves a robust meat dish like a Saint Joseph or even an Hermitage. Excellent
