The Valais appellation is located in French-speaking Switzerland, in the French-speaking part of the country. Most of the Valais vineyards are planted on mountain slopes, between 400 and 700 meters above sea level.
In addition to international grape varieties such as Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Chasselas, Valais also offers indigenous varieties such as Cornalin (red), Humagne Rouge, and Petite Arvine (white).
