"Exceptionally impressive with its floral and herbaceous notes, the 2021 Cederberg Syrah offers a hint of reduction that keeps its expression somewhat restrained. Medium-bodied, it exhibits a certain firmness on the palate that will require a little more time to soften. If you drink it young, pair it with food, and I recommend decanting it at least an hour before serving. This is an absolutely impressive Syrah that exudes a sense of place and varietal character. I can see where it’s headed, and your patience will be rewarded. Bravo! 2025–2042” (Robert Parker 2023)

Vinous
Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
The 2021 Cederberg Syrah comes from rocky sandstone soils located at an elevation of 940 meters. The well-defined nose features aromas of black fruit, white pepper, cloves, and subtle hints of flint. It is medium-bodied with juicy black fruit, quite salty and firm on the palate, and savory leading to a finish tinged with black olive. I would give it a few years in the bottle. 2026–2042
James Suckling
Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
Aromas of mushrooms, cocoa, crushed pepper, and dark berries. More earthy here, with a full body and broad, fleshy tannins. Complex notes of meat and stem on the finish. Long-lasting. Ready to drink now, but will be better after 2024.
