"This Syrah blossoms beautifully in the glass: finesse, harmony, and flavors—a delight!"

This serious—and seriously good—Syrah is made from Swartland fruit grown on the schist soils of the Porseleinberg (90%) and Goldmine (10%) estates near Riebeek-Kasteel. The nose is savory and earthy, with gravelly and smoky notes enhanced by fragrant red fruit aromas. The palate is rich in spices and features savory peppery notes that accompany fresh, juicy fruit—blackberry, plum, black cherry, and blueberry—with elegant, supple tannins and a hint of violet on the finish. Beautifully balanced, with finely tuned tension throughout the tasting. [...] 2025-2040" (Decanter 2025)

Wine rating (2025 guide) 94+/100 (Outstanding wine)

About wine:

The Boekenhoutskloof 2022 Swartland Syrah is made from 60% whole grapes and the rest is destemmed. It is aged in Stockinger barrels for 18 months. The Syrah is planted on a cool hillside, and this wine has clean aromas with purple and blue fruits supported by a bright primary intensity. It caresses the palate with a refined and smooth style, but lacks neither power nor depth. A long and slow malolactic fermentation is allowed, which gives the wine more tension. Swartland Syrah tends to become fuller and richer with age. Let this bottle age for a few years in your cellar. 2025-2037
