Domaine Schieferkopf
In 2009, renowned Rhône winemaker Michel Chapoutier moved to Alsace with the ambition of creating great Rieslings. He acquired five hectares of vines on the rare blue schist terroirs around Bernardvillé, at an altitude of 380 meters.
Michel Chapoutier did not take on this new challenge alone. He was joined by four wine-loving friends in 2006, and it was not until 2011 that the first bottles from Domaine Schieferkopf were released.
The Domaine Schieferkopf wine range consists mainly of Rieslings—five wines, including three single-vineyard cuvées. Michel Chapoutier also produces a Sylvaner and a Gewurztraminer.
