Domaine Schieferkopf
In 2009, the renowned Rhône winemaker Michel Chapoutier moved to Alsace with the ambition of producing great Rieslings. He acquired 5 hectares of vineyards on the rare blue schist terroirs around Bernardvillé, at an altitude of 380 meters.
Michel Chapoutier did not undertake this new challenge alone. He was joined by four friends who were passionate about wine in 2006, and it wasn’t until 2011 that the first bottles from Domaine Schieferkopf were released.
The Domaine Schieferkopf wine portfolio consists primarily of Riesling—five wines, including three single-vineyard cuvées. Michel Chapoutier also produces a Sylvaner and a Gewürztraminer.
