"A Riesling that seems to dance on the palate, according to Suckling, or like a sea breeze, according to Vinous: it's superb."

Jancis Robinson

Jancis Robinson

Wine rated (2024 guide) 17,5/20

About wine:

Notes of lemon curd and red apple mingle with hints of lemon and kumquat. The elegant, juicy palate has lively, zesty edges. Complex and refined, with a creamy agility that belies the rigid, racy temperament underlying it. 2026-2034

Vinous

Vinous

Wine rated (2024 guide) 97/100

About wine:

The Riesling Westhofener Brunnenhäuschen Grosses Gewächs 2023 is located next to Morstein to the east, with slightly more iron oxide in the soil. On the nose, tender and flavorful notes suggest green apple peel, a peppery hint of watercress, and lemony freshness. The palate has a finely boned substance, chalky depth, and a slightly saline freshness, reminiscent of a breeze. We are very far from the ocean, but this wine is salty like a sea breeze, almost like an oyster shell. It is beautifully saline and maritime in character. 2028-2060

Falstaff

Falstaff

Wine rated (2024 guide) 98/100

About wine:

Opens with herbaceous and spicy notes of thyme, rosemary, watercress, apple peel, red apple, and fresh caraway: aromas of the terroir. From the outset, the wine gains in dynamism and tension; it is very concentrated and distinctive, with mineral notes. A great Riesling.
