The 2023 Westhofener Brunnenhäuschen Grosses Gewächs Riesling is located east of Morstein, with slightly more iron oxide in the soil. On the nose, delicate and savory notes suggest green apple peel, a peppery hint of watercress, and a lemony freshness. On the palate, it displays a finely structured body, chalky depth, and a slightly salty freshness reminiscent of a sea breeze. We are a long way from the ocean, but this wine is salty like a sea breeze, almost like an oyster shell. It is beautifully salty and maritime in its entire character. 2028–2060

The aromas of orange blossom, ripe nectarine, and melon in this great dry GG Riesling are breathtakingly beautiful. This superbly elegant, medium-bodied expression from the high-altitude Brunnenhauschen vineyard effortlessly showcases its great power and concentration, dancing across your palate. It opens with herbaceous and spicy notes of thyme, rosemary, watercress, apple peel, red apple, and fresh caraway: aromas of the terroir. From the very start, the wine gains in dynamism and tension; it is very concentrated, distinctive, and mineral. A great Riesling.
