Meyer-Fonné - Alsace Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives Grand Cru Kaefferkopf 2018 (50cl)
2*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
"The estate's wine list features several sweet wines from various terroirs. This one, from a very early vintage (harvested in mid-October for the 2018), has earned the estate its sixth 'Coup de Cœur' award. While this golden-yellow wine entices with a nose marked by overripeness, featuring notes of stewed—even candied—yellow and exotic fruits, it is on the palate that it reveals all its qualities: its perfectly creamy texture and richness are balanced by a touch of acidity that lends it superb harmony.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
In just a few years, Félix Meyer has built a solid reputation in Alsace. This is no accident: the viticulture is of high quality, with yields carefully controlled, and the wines are aged on fine lees in large casks. Having joined the family estate in 1992, Félix has skillfully brought out the character of Katzenthal’s granite-based terroirs. Don’t overlook his Gewürztraminer, which is never heavy and achieves a crystalline purity, winning over even the detractors of this variety, which is all too often described as cloying. The estate expanded by 3.5 hectares in 2019, and 2021 saw the arrival of organic certification.
