Moltès - Alsace Steinstück 2022 (Vin orange)
“A Gewürztraminer that has really come into its own—much to our delight!”
An orange wine made exclusively from Gewürztraminer, revealing soft spicy notes with a hint of smokiness on the finish. The varietal characteristics are evident, with subtle floral notes. Pair it with sweet-and-salty dishes!

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
The new generation of Moltès, Stéphane and Mickaël, who have been running the estate since 1995, have since converted the vineyard to organic farming. Unsurprisingly, this has given the wines more structure and tension, which now stand out during our annual tastings. A new adventure that is only just beginning for this estate founded in 1930 by Antoine Moltès.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
An estate located about ten kilometers south of Colmar. Antoine Moltès marketed the first wines in 1925, and his son Roland explored the terroirs. Having settled at the turn of the century, Mickaël and Stéphane built a new winery, gradually moved towards organic farming, initiating the conversion of the vineyard in 2012; they also expanded the property, which grew from 17 to 27 hectares in 2019, and created a wine merchant company to enrich their range.

One of the few with a true orange hue. The nose offers notes of quince jelly, and the palate has a slight hint of spice. I don't recognize the Gewürztraminer.
