"Its Gewurztraminer version is very convincing, with its chiseled structure and highly digestible sugars." (RVF)

The "Zinnkoepflé" vineyard, with its 50 acres of old Gewurztraminer vines, earned the Moltès brothers the title of "Winemakers of the Year" (2020 edition). The grape variety, which thrives on this limestone and sandstone hillside, sheltered from rain and wind, is perched high up here at 380 m, close to its summit topped with dry heathland. Zinnkoepflé wines often take on characteristics of over-ripeness, as sweet as they are powerful. This is the case with this golden yellow 2023, whose intense and complex nose reveals fruitiness tinged with candied and roasted notes. Its suppleness and fullness are balanced by a pleasant acidity that gives it length and depth." (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

The new generation of Moltès, Stéphane and Mickaël, who have been running the estate since 1995, have since converted the vineyard to organic farming. Unsurprisingly, this has given the wines more verticality and tension, and they now stand out in our annual tastings. This is just the beginning of a new adventure for this estate, founded in 1930 by Antoine Moltès.

About wine:

The "head in the sun" (Zinnkoepflé), these 50 acres of old Gewurztraminers enabled the Moltès brothers to be elected "winemakers of the year" (2020 edition). The grape variety, which thrives on this limestone and sandstone hillside, sheltered from rain and wind, is perched high up at 380 m, close to its summit topped with dry heathland. Zinnkoepflé wines often take on characteristics of over-ripeness, as sweet as they are powerful. This is the case with this golden yellow 2023, whose intense and complex nose reveals fruitiness tinged with candied and roasted notes. Its suppleness and fullness are balanced by a pleasant acidity that gives it length and depth. (Residual sugar: 42 g/l.)

About the estate:

A vineyard located about ten kilometers south of Colmar. Antoine Moltès sold his first wines in 1925, and his son Roland explored the terroirs. Settling in at the turn of the century, Mickaël and Stéphane built a new winery and gradually moved towards organic farming, beginning the conversion of the vineyard in 2012. They also expanded the property from 17 to 27 hectares in 2019 and created a trading company to expand their range.
