Domaine Schieferkopf
In 2009, renowned Rhône winemaker Michel Chapoutier moved to Alsace with the ambition of creating great Rieslings. He acquired 5 hectares of vines on the rare blue schist terroirs around Bernardvillé, at an altitude of 380 m
. Michel Chapoutier was not thinking of taking on this new challenge alone. He was joined by 4 wine-loving friends in 2006, and it wasn't until 2011 that the first bottles of Domaine Schieferkopf were released.
The Domaine Schieferkopf wine range is mainly composed of Riesling - 5 wines, including 3 cuvées en sélection parcellaire. Michel Chapoutier also produces a Sylvaner and a Gewurztraminer.
