About the estate:

Cathy Faller works alongside her sons, Eddy and Théo. The expansive vineyard produces fruit-forward wines of excellent structure and great finesse. The estate’s finest wines come from the surrounding hillsides: the Grand Cru wines Furstentum and Altenbourg, and the Schlossberg, which shines with its crystalline expression of Riesling. The 2019 acquisition of the Gérard Fuchs estate (in Sigolsheim) added six hectares to the property, including two on the Furstentum Grand Cru. This is ideal for meeting the unwavering global demand. Le Clos des Capucins is one of those magical, elusive, and timeless places. It’s rare to find a place with so much energy and history, producing wines of such purity. Supported by her two sons, Eddy and Théo, Catherine Faller leads the estate, devoting extraordinary energy to maintaining the highest quality in the wines and ensuring a warm welcome at the estate. Her son Théo devotes a great deal of attention to the vineyards, which have been cultivated biodynamically across the entire estate since 2005, while Ghislain Berthiot, who has been with the estate for several years, is in charge of winemaking. Eddy assists his mother with the business side of the operation. Here, you can taste one of the finest expressions of the Schlossberg Grand Cru, at various stages of maturity. Its clarity and precision amaze us, often approaching perfection. Gewürztraminer finds its ideal terroirs in the surrounding area. The estate has just acquired 6 hectares of vineyards, including 1 hectare of the Furstentum Grand Cru.

The 2023 Schlossberg Grand Cru Riesling still exhibits a hint of youthful yeast, which is entirely understandable for a wine bottled just last week. Yet, a hint of lemon zest is unmistakable. The palate is perfectly crisp. It’s rock in its raw form: pure, brilliant, very dry, and uncompromising. The palate continues to stimulate the salivary glands, aided by a lovely salinity. (Very dry)

The perfect balance of intensity, mineral elegance, and youthful freshness makes this great dry Riesling from Alsace as delicious as it is captivating. As it opens up, you’ll get a sense of the essence of peach. There’s nothing spectacular about this beauty, but let yourself be carried away by its long and extremely refined finish, and you won’t miss the powerful statement it makes. Made from biodynamically grown, Demeter-certified grapes. Can be enjoyed now, but will reach its peak starting in 2026.
