"A marvel of balance"

This Grand Cru reveals a very delicate nose, with notes of ripe fruit and citrus, aromas of orange peel, and subtle floral notes. The opulent and very well-balanced palate leads to a long, briny finish supported by a ripe, rounded acidity. It pairs very well with appetizers featuring grilled vegetables, fatty fish, and sushi. It also makes a good pairing with white meats and simmered poultry. • Please note: limited quantities available.

5-Star-Rated Estate (Exceptional producers who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)

About the estate:

Cathy Faller works alongside her sons, Eddy and Théo. The expansive vineyard produces fruity wines of excellent structure and great finesse. The finest wines come from the surrounding hillsides: the grand cru wines Furstentum and Altenbourg, and the Schlossberg, which shines with its crystalline expression of Riesling. The 2019 acquisition of the Gérard Fuchs estate (in Sigolsheim) added six hectares to the property, including two on the Furstentum Grand Cru. This is ideal for meeting the unwavering global demand. A true institution.

Wine rated (2027 guide) 97/100 Favorite

Rated estate (2023 guide): 3*Stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience.)

About the wine:

Notes of mandarin and green papaya in Furstentum, which is no less vibrant and intense, more approachable in its youth, and fascinating in the breadth of its aromatic spectrum.

About the estate:

Le Clos des Capucins is one of those magical, elusive, and timeless places. It’s rare to find a place with so much energy and history, producing wines of such purity. Supported by her two sons, Eddy and Théo, Catherine Faller leads the estate, devoting extraordinary energy to maintaining the highest quality in the wines and ensuring a warm welcome for visitors. Her son Théo devotes a great deal of attention to the vineyards, which have been managed biodynamically across the entire estate since 2005, while Ghislain Berthiot, who has been with the estate for several years, is in charge of winemaking. Eddy assists his mother with the business side of the operation. Here, you can taste one of the finest expressions of the Schlossberg Grand Cru, at various stages of maturity. Its clarity and precision amaze us, often approaching perfection. Gewürztraminer finds its ideal terroirs in the surrounding area. The estate has just acquired 6 hectares of vineyards, including 1 hectare of the Furstentum Grand Cru.
