“An explosion of citrus and surprising elegance!”
“Beautifully ripe, powerful, and concentrated, this medium-bodied to full-bodied dry Riesling also possesses an invigorating freshness. It offers aromas of orange, apricot, and blanched almond. I love the textural and mineral complexity of its long, full finish, which seems to go on forever.” (James Suckling 2025)

5-Star Estate (Exceptional producers who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)
About the estate:
Cathy Faller works alongside her sons, Eddy and Théo. The expansive vineyard produces fruit-forward wines of excellent structure and great finesse. The estate’s finest wines come from the surrounding hillsides: the Grand Cru wines Furstentum and Altenbourg, and the Schlossberg, which shines with its crystalline expression of Riesling. The 2019 acquisition of the Gérard Fuchs estate (in Sigolsheim) added six hectares to the property, including two on the Furstentum grand cru. This expansion is ideal for meeting the unflagging global demand. A true institution.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)
About the estate:
Le Clos des Capucins is one of those magical, elusive, and timeless places. It is rare to find a place with such energy and history, producing wines of such purity. Supported by her two sons, Eddy and Théo, Catherine Faller leads the estate, devoting rare energy to maintaining the highest quality of the wines and ensuring a warm welcome at the estate. Her son Théo pays close attention to the vineyards, which have been cultivated biodynamically across the entire estate since 2005, while Ghislain Berthiot, who has been with the estate for several years, is in charge of winemaking. Eddy assists his mother with the business side of things. Here, one can taste one of the finest expressions of the Schlossberg grand cru, at various stages of maturity. Its clarity and precision are impressive, often approaching perfection. Gewürztraminer finds its ideal terroirs in the surrounding area. The estate has just acquired 6 hectares of vineyards, including 1 hectare of the Furstentum grand cru.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 17+/20
About the wine:
Pale lime-green color. The nose offers a wide range of citrus aromas, ranging from yuzu to orange and lime, with the latter being the most prominent. The rest of this complex bouquet consists of mineral notes, flint, smoke, green herbs, peach, and melon. It is dry, with a well-defined Riesling acidity and a richer texture than that of a classic Schlossberg, but this is hardly surprising since it comes from the lower part of the hillside. It might benefit from aging to fully develop, but it already pairs very well with lobster and other fresh seafood dishes. (BR)
