“Reliable, delicious, complex, rich, and generous—try Torbreck’s superstar, according to The Wine Advocate!”

“The 2021 The Steading is incredibly smooth on the nose: summer raspberries, blood plums, black cherries, licorice, star anise, a hint of cardamom, and chewing tobacco. It offers incredible value for money at around $40, but I get the impression it’s been at that price for at least a decade, and has therefore been incredible value for money for a long time. It’s a reliable, delicious, complex, rich, and generous wine, and, through the lens of this fresh vintage, a superstar. The best to date. ” (Wine Advocate 2023)

About the wine:

I love the tannic structure of this wine, with its aromas and flavors of berries, dried meat, and spices. It is medium-bodied, firm, and vibrant. Juicy finish. Beautiful texture on the palate. Lively. Grenache, Shiraz, and Mataro. Ready to drink or worth cellaring.

Review by Mr. MATHIEU W. Published on April 28, 2026

Deep ruby color with a cherry-red rim. Nose: sweet, ripe, sun-kissed dark fruit—blackberries, plums, and more—along with notes of aged wood, spice, and earthiness. On the palate, abundant ripe dark fruit, silky-smooth and fine-grained tannins, plenty of body, fullness, power, freshness, ripeness, and character. This is a magnificent wine with substance and depth. A beautiful Australian GSM wine that embodies the soul of Australia. I was already a fan of Torbreck wines, but this is next level! Score: 18/20
