"A vibrant 100% Chardonnay offering excellent value for money!"

"Crisp, mineral, and taut, a hint of briny acidity and phenolic compounds runs through the heart of this wine and carries it through to the finish. This 2021 Filius Chardonnay is at the crisp, vibrant end of the Chardonnay spectrum, not only in the Vasse Felix house style, but also in the regional context. This is a cleverly crafted and straightforward Chardonnay. I love the salty nuts on the finish. 2022-2027" (Robert Parker 2022) • Screw cap

Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100

About wine:

Your piggy bank may not be full enough to buy this estate's Premier Estate and Heytesbury Chardonnays, but Filius offers incredible value for money. This vintage has lively acidity and a wild, warm hay fermentation flavor that blends with ripe melon, crisp nectarine, and lemon balm. Delicate yet concentrated, with judicious creamy notes of toasted walnut oak. 2023-2030

Rated winery (2018 guide) New World Winery of the Year

About wine:

The entry-level Chardonnay from Margaret River's oldest winery is a real bargain and an excellent introduction to this Western Australian style. Delicate, perfectly integrated notes of lightly toasted hazelnut and cream lead the way, with a hint of salty sea breeze. Notes of pineapple, melon, and candied lemon play supporting roles. It is beautifully balanced, with crisp acidity neatly juxtaposing the weight of the texture. This wine has been crafted with care and skill, and is perfectly drinkable right now.

About the estate:

Vasse Felix is the first winery in Margaret River and Western Australia to receive the American publication's award, surpassing wineries from major international regions, including Stellenbosch (De Toren), Auckland (Kumeu River), Argentina (Trapiche), and Chile (Vina Ventisquero), to receive the coveted award.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100

About wine:

A white wine with solid fruitiness, featuring white peaches, apples, and notes of vanilla and oak. A medium-bodied wine with a creamy texture and a savory finish. There's a lot going on here. Drink now or cellar. Screw cap.

Wine rated 90/100

About wine:

For a Chardonnay that reflects regional attributes, and perhaps a little bit of the house style, it works well. It is well made, handling the citrus, stone fruit, and spice components with some funky sulfides and subtle oak. The texture is also good, and it's a wine that can be enjoyed without too much thought.
