Vasse Felix

Vasse Felix pays tribute to a French sailor named Vasse, who went missing during the 1801 expedition to map Australia. 

A pioneer of viticulture in the Margaret River region, the Vasse Felix estate was founded by Dr. Thomas Cullity in 1967. Since 1987, the Holmes family has continued his work, expanding the vineyard to 133 hectares.

Margaret River enjoys a Mediterranean and oceanic climate, influenced by its location on a peninsula. Vasse Felix cultivates several sites at varying distances from the ocean to take advantage of different microclimates and exposures. This diversity helps the grape varieties adapt to the soils, allowing for single-vineyard selections and winemaking that respects the terroir.

Vasse Felix primarily produces wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Riesling for whites, and Shiraz and Malbec for reds.

Winemaker Virginia Willcox, who has been active in Margaret River for over 20 years, was named “Australian Winemaker of the Year” in 2012.
