Margaret River
The Margaret River appellation is a renowned wine region located in southwestern Australia, 300 kilometers south of Perth, Western Australia.

Viticulture in the Margaret River region began in the 1960s after research by John Gladstones, who identified the area as ideal for growing grapes. Margaret River has become a leading wine region in Australia, with over 5,840 hectares of vineyards and 215 wineries.

Margaret River has a Mediterranean climate similar to that of Bordeaux in dry years, with hot summers and mild, wet winters. The soils are mainly composed of gravel.

The main red grape varieties grown are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Shiraz (Syrah), and the most common white varieties are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon.
