Margaret River
The Margaret River region is a renowned wine-growing area located in southwestern Australia, 300 kilometers south of Perth, in Western Australia.

Winegrowing in the Margaret River region began in the 1960s following research by John Gladstones, who had identified the area as ideal for growing grapes. Margaret River has become one of Australia’s leading wine regions, with more than 5,840 hectares of vineyards and 215 wineries.

Margaret River has a Mediterranean climate similar to that of Bordeaux in dry years, with hot summers and mild, humid winters. The soils are primarily composed of gravel.

The main red grape varieties grown are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Shiraz (Syrah), and the most common white grape varieties are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sémillon.
