McLaren Vale
The history of winemaking in McLaren Vale dates back to the 1830s, when its exceptional Mediterranean climate, combined with soil of extraordinary richness and diversity, came together to create an exceptional region for viticulture.
Located on the shores of St. Vincent Gulf, McLaren Vale benefits from the cooling influence of the ocean, which counterbalances the warm southerly winds coming from the surrounding land and mountains.
Its sandy, clay-limestone, and marl soils enable the McLaren Vale region to produce Syrah, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon with a magnificent complexity of flavors and a diversity of characteristics that appeal to wine enthusiasts.
While primarily known for red wines, McLaren Vale also produces a few white varietals, such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, though in smaller quantities.
