McLaren Vale
The history of winegrowing in McLaren Vale dates back to the 1830s, when its exceptional Mediterranean climate combined with extraordinarily rich and varied soil to create an ideal region for growing grapes.
Located on the edge of the Gulf of St. Vincent, McLaren Vale benefits from the cool ocean breeze that counterbalances the hot southerly winds coming from the surrounding land and mountains.
Its sandy, clay-limestone and marl soils enable the McLaren Vale region to produce Syrah, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon wines with a magnificent complexity of flavors and a diversity of characteristics that appeal to wine lovers.
Although predominantly red, McLaren Vale also produces a few white grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, but in smaller quantities.
