"Bernhard Ott describes it as 'the soul of Hengstberg': this vintage was named the best Grüner Veltliner in James Suckling's Austrian Top 100!"

“The 2021 Grüner Veltliner Rosenberg comes from vines planted in 1956 that are rooted in deep loess. [...] The nose is immediately rich and creamy, while the palate reveals immense concentration. Tart and mineral notes come together on a linear and precise structure. Lemon follows this trail with urgency and persistence. This wine is the antithesis of everything one might imagine about loess. The finish is long and reveals a subtle yet very flattering astringency, which brings both structure and beauty. 2025–2050” (Vinous 2023) • limited quantities!

Rated 94/100 (2023 Guide) (An outstanding wine)

About the wine:

The Ried Rosenberg 1ÖTW Feuersbrunn Grüner Veltliner 2021 opens with a bright, intense, and deep bouquet, characterized by aging on the lees, with notes of crushed stone and, of course, yeast. Pure, lively, and fresh on the palate, this is a full-bodied Veltliner with a lively mouthfeel, revealing aromas of white fruit, fine tannins, and a lingering salinity. The finish features subtle bitter notes. It is powerful, yet in a discreet way. Screw cap. 2023–2040

Vinous

Vinous

Wine rated (2023 guide) 96/100

About the wine:

The 2021 Grüner Veltliner Rosenberg comes from vines planted in 1956 that are rooted in deep loess soil. The wine rests on its coarse lees for two winters. According to Ott, the second winter is crucial, as the yeasts reclaim some of the richness they had initially imparted to the wine. The nose is immediately creamy, while the palate reveals immense concentration. Tart and mineral notes come together on a linear and precise structure. Lemon follows this trail with urgency and persistence. This wine is the antithesis of everything one might imagine about loess. The finish is long and reveals a subtle yet very flattering astringency, which brings both structure and beauty. (Very dry) 2025–2050

James Suckling

Wine rated (2023 guide) 96/100

About the wine:

What aromatic complexity! Salty, herbaceous notes blend with aromas of pineapple, dried lemon, beeswax, and mango pit. This medium-bodied wine is fresh and harmonious, with deliciously interwoven honey notes and a minerality that lingers and intensifies before a long, elegant finish. Made from grapes grown using biodynamic methods and certified by Respekt. Enjoy now or celller. Screw cap.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Wine rated (2024 guide) 98/100

About the wine:

Pale greenish-yellow color with silvery highlights. Delicate floral aromas, a hint of fresh apricot, with undertones of mandarin and orange zest, and white nougat. A taut and vibrant texture, delicate crystalline minerality, lovely acidity, white stone fruits, rich and long-lasting, with a soft, fruity flavor on the finish. A fresh, briny style with good length and promising aging potential.
