Château de Pizay

Since 1981, Château de Pizay has belonged to a subsidiary of the regional agricultural insurance company Groupama Rhône Alpes. The property covers 80 hectares around Château de Pizay, 40 of which are planted with vines. A sharecropping arrangement in the neighboring commune of Régnié-Durette produces Régnié, the tenth and last Beaujolais Cru. The 1998 acquisition of Château de Saint Lager, an 8-hectare estate located at the foot of the famous Brouilly hill, enriched the range with a fresh and seductive cru: Brouilly Château de Saint Lager.

The Château de Pizay estate therefore cultivates vines planted in several appellations: Beaujolais red, Morgon, Régnié, Beaujolais white, and Brouilly. The Château de Pizay vineyard is, of course, exclusively planted with Gamay noir à jus blanc for red wines and Chardonnay for white wines. The entire Château de Pizay wine production is vinified, aged, and bottled on the estate.
