Château de Pizay

Since 1981, Château de Pizay has been owned by a subsidiary of Groupama Rhône-Alpes, the regional agricultural insurance fund. The estate covers 80 hectares around Château de Pizay, 40 of which are planted with vines. A sharecropping arrangement in the neighboring commune of Régnié-Durette produces Régnié, the tenth and final Cru of the Beaujolais region. The 1998 acquisition of Château de Saint Lager, an 8-hectare estate located at the foot of the famous Brouilly hill, enriches the range with a fresh and appealing cru: Brouilly Château de Saint Lager.

The Château de Pizay estate thus cultivates vineyards located in several appellations: Beaujolais red, Morgon, Régnié, Beaujolais white, and Brouilly. The grape varieties of the Château de Pizay vineyard are, of course, exclusively black Gamay for the red wines and Chardonnay for the white wines. The entire production of Château de Pizay wine is vinified, aged, and bottled on the estate.
